BLSSNG weaves language, spirituality and the deeper meaning of words into a visual experience. It is the result of a process that began in 2012, when Florian Nährer created his first typefaces in various media - from hundreds of stickers stuck around the world to works that focus on the meaning and energy of words.
Nährer assumes that every word is more than just a linguistic unit. It carries an inner power that is activated by the act of writing or speaking. In the tradition of house blessings, which have been used for centuries in many cultures to bring protection and blessing, this work follows a classic line. These house blessings, often emblazoned as words of blessing over the entrances of houses, symbolised the wish for prosperity, protection and spiritual purity. In an age characterised by enlightenment and rationalism, the question arises as to whether such traditions and rituals still have any meaning. BLSSNG invites us to reflect on this question and whether there is any justification for imbuing our own lives and spaces with such spiritual energy.
With this work, the artist aims to heighten awareness of the hidden dimension of language and encourage the viewer to recognise the invisible, transformative power of words.
In a world where we are often lost in the multitude of information and meanings, BLSSNG reminds us that the right choice of words, the right form of language and the conscious manifestation of energy can have a profound impact on our reality.
